Let’s talk beauty. But before we do, I have to say thank you. Thanks to every single one of you sweet, sweet souls for your kind and generous responses to my recent post. Reed and I feel so unbelievably supported. Many of you have bravely shared with me your own stories of infertility and miscarriage, and that has simply left me in awe. I feel honored to know your heart, to be someone you trust, and to open up the conversation a little wider for us all.
If sharing about our loss has taught me anything, it’s that our life experiences, even the worst of them, are not just ours.
The testing, proving, and working out of our faith is for others too...to lift them up, to whisper, “You’re not alone” in their ear, and to begin walking together. I’ll be forever grateful we didn’t leave this one in the dark...and I know we’re only beginning to see the impact unfold.
Now let’s talk beauty.
It’s been a while since I sat down and shared with you the things I’m trying and loving lately. If you’ve been around this space before, you know I LIVE for this stuff. There’s something so simple and fun about girl talk, about walking the aisles of Target, pointing out the things we swear by, and sending texts to our friends that read, “This ______ has literally changed my life.” Of course, we don’t mean literally, but what’s a beauty recommendation without a little drama?
So friends, here are some things that have not-so-literally changed my life, but have definitely injected a lot of fun into my current beauty routine! You can trust your girl, I would never steer you wrong.

Before I get into it, quick disclaimer: moving into a house is real expensive, therefore pricey beauty items have recently taken the backseat to more affordable, drugstore items. This list isn’t exclusively drugstore, but I assure you, this also isn’t a sponsored, bougie beauty list, made of things we can’t pronounce. (I’m also not above said bougie items, so if any brands want to send me free things, by all means.) Okay, carry on.
Weleda Skin Food Skin Cream ($9.99) This stuff is a cure-all, tube of magic. My skin has been incredibly dry lately (blame it on the aftermath of Summer and the current Autumn winds), but just a little bit of this, and I’m as smooth as a baby’s bottom! This makes your skin glowy and impossibly hydrated. Hack: I like to use a little bit of this to tame any curly flyaways! Buy it here
Glossier Balm Dot Com in Birthday Cake ($12) Another tube of magic for ya. This yummy lip balm is what I put on every morning when I wash my face, and every night before I go to sleep. I love that I don’t have to stick my finger in a pot, and that the tiniest amount is just enough. The second I run out of this balm, I’m buying another. Maybe two. Buy it here
E.l.f. Shimmering Highlighting Powder ($6) I picked up this highlighter after a remarkable swatch sesh in Target. This formula is so pigmented, it isn’t glittery, and it goes on smooth as butter! I got mine in the lightest shade, Pearl Glow (my summer tan is officially gone and I’m back to looking like Snow White), but it also comes in two darker shades. Buy it here
LUSH Mask of Magnaminty Face and Body Mask ($14.95) I have never used a mask that smells this delicious! To me, it smells exactly of a Andes mint chocolate...ya know, the kind you grab a handful of as you leave a restaurant? No, just me? This mask is exfoliating and cleansing without being too harsh and it takes down redness in no time. This is the ultimate treat, and even better in the shower! Buy it here
NYX Professional Makeup Total Control Drop Foundation ($9.99) This foundation has officially become one of my all-time favorites. I have personally recommended it more than any other item on this list! I apply three drops on my face and blend with a beauty blender or a foundation brush. You can’t beat the price point, buildable coverage, or silky finish! I wear the shade Natural, but they have tons to choose from! Buy it here
Glossier Wowder Powder and Brush Duo ($35) Say hello to my favorite, maybe ever, loose setting powder and it’s pink brush counterpart. The formula is light, takes away shine, doesn’t crease, and blends beautifully. Plus, is there anything cuter than that brush pouch? I never leave home without this stuff. Buy it here
Devacurl Arc Angel Gel ($22-$44) Alright curly girls, I am a believer. I’m planning on doing a whole blog post on my curly hair journey (deep stuff, right?), my Devacurl conversion, and one of the best haircuts I’ve ever had. Allow me to start with this: if you have curly hair, you need this gel. It is worth every precious penny. I never thought I’d use gel again after my unfortunate LA Looks Sports Extreme mishaps in middle school, BUT here I am! A new woman, with better hair, and I just gotta spread the word. Buy it here
Touch in Sol Metallist Liquid Foil Lipstick Duo ($25) I have to be honest and say I first tried this lip duo because it came in my Fall Fab Fit Fun box (say that five times fast). But I will also tell you that not too long after I tried it, I immediately bought another. Why? Well, to start, the metallic liquid lip formula is wonderful - not drying, easy application, stays on all day. Second, the glittery lipgloss is beautiful and great on top of the liquid lip or on it’s own. Nothing like having a two in one option when you’re on the go! I have the shades Penny and Alice! Buy it here
NYX Professional Makeup Micro Brow Pencil ($9.99) While picking up my drop foundation, I decided to give this brow pencil a whirl. I’m so glad I did! It’s the perfect size for penciling brush strokes throughout my otherwise underwhelming, patchy brows, turning them into seemingly bushy beauties. I wear the shade Chocolate and also recommend this brow gel to seal the deal. Buy it here
Billie Razor Starter Kit & Subscription ($9 + monthly or quarterly subscription plan) When Reed started using The Dollar Shave Club, I thought it was a great idea...paying a small fee for quality razors and blades to be delivered to your doorstep, for a fraction of the usual store price? Genius! Not too long after, I discovered Billie, a version for women made by women, with adorable packaging/branding (admittedly being half the reason I gave it a shot). For just $9, you get a great razor, two replacement blades, and a magnetic razor holder for your shower. You can join the subscription plan and adjust it to whatever time frame works for you, and each time, they send you 5 replacement blades. You can also skip a shipment whenever you don’t need it. I’m sold! Buy it here
