Celebrating Fall: A Cozy Baking Day
If you’ve been following along on my little journey for any length of time, you know that Fall is my favorite season.
My husband is a Summer guy through and through, and we both agree on Winter landing just beneath our first seasons of choice. For me, there is nothing more comforting than cozy nights by the fire and listening to leaves rustling in the trees outside my window. I love the crisp mornings, how the days feel shorter, placing pumpkins on the porch, and lighting my favorite candle. Evenings around here are getting colder by the minute, so we have officially swapped out our linen bedding for a warmer, fleece alternative. (It has never been harder to get out of bed in the morning!)
Each year around this time, my homebody nature thrives.
Nights out on the town, weekends at the beach, and bbq’s are swapped out for nights-in watching a film, low and slow cooking, and of course...weekends spent baking up a storm. Since moving into our new home, Reed and I have been hosting more than ever, which is a real dream come true for me. I love nothing more than creating inspiring and welcoming environments for people to come, feel served, and leave full! Last weekend, I invited some of my favorite gals, my Mom and my future sis-in law Kristina to come over for an afternoon of Fall baking bliss. The day was jam-packed (punny, no?) with delicious fragrances filling the kitchen, laughter, and an unexpected visitor - my sweet gal Maddie!
Our flour-covered time was spent revisiting recipes old and beloved, and testing new ones. It’s safe to say I have some new favorites! Our goals were simple: to celebrate the fun of the Fall season, but also to celebrate having each other, the opportunity to share life and learn together. I am so grateful to live near my Mom, garner her wisdom, and make memories together. And our family could not be more blessed to be adding Kristina as a sister next July, she was hands down the sweetest thing in my kitchen.
I hope that in the midst of your busy life, you would make some time to celebrate this season.
Maybe for you, it’s about taking a walk among some foliage, or sipping hot apple cider on your porch. However you take notice of the changing scene around you, do it with full presence, people you love, and perhaps something baking in the oven!
Here are the recipes we chose for our Fall baking day, each delicious in its own way and perfect for your next gathering around the table.
