Blogmas Day 8: What's In My Bag This December

While reading, listen to White Christmas by Gavin James.

Am I the only nosy one who loves to see what people carry around with them?

Youtube channels and blogs around the world tell me no, but I still have to wonder if opening up our bags of tricks is a little improper. Growing up, my brothers were taught, "Never look in a woman's purse - there lies all of her secrets." Not a very good incentive for young, curious boys, but I understand the purpose. The contents of a woman's purse are typically kept private. I recall a favorite scene in How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days (one of my guilty pleasures), when Andie purposefully leaves behind her purse to reveal some basketball tickets to her new love-interest, Ben. His friends are daring him to look through it, and, as most men would, he hesitates.

Thayer: That it?
Tony: That’s it?
Ben: [points to purse on desk] That’s it.
Tony: Have you looked inside?
Ben: No.
Thayer: Do you have an ethical problem with rifling through a woman’s purse?
Ben: Uhh, yeah, I guess I do.
Tony: Well, it’s hardly a purse, dude, it’s more like a... clutch or something.
Ben: Guys, a woman’s purse, alright, it’s her secret source of power. Alright? There are many dark and dangerous things in there, that we, the male species, should know nothing about.

Perhaps the laws of exposing the inner life of a woman's purse are a bit medieval and overly superstitious. Boys, nothing bad happens when you look inside a woman's bag - although depending on your age, you may walk away with a little confusion concerning some feminine products. I personally find it really interesting when other bloggers and Youtubers share what's in their bags! After all, we're not crazy or interested in unneeded luggage. We would not carry around a bag all day, filled with stuff, unless that bag, and that stuff were important. Rant. Over.

So, here is what I've been carrying over the last two months, and the bag it all lives in. These are truly some of my favorite, swear-by-'em items!

And for today's #ShopSmall feature, I'm sharing Lily Shih Tote Bags!

Lily Shih Tote Bags is a mother and son team. Lily Shih, the mother, is the seamstress and Jason Yang, the son, is the designer. Together, they create tote bags that stand out from the crowd; taking a ubiquitous item and making it something special. Each tote bag is lovingly handmade in New York City.

I LOVE my black, shiny hobo tote bag. It is comfortable to carry, perfect for little shopping trips here and there, and the shiny black material makes me feel très chic when I pair it with boyfriend jeans and trainers. Lily is offering 10% off through December using the code HAPPY2017 at checkout. You won't regret getting one for yourself or as a gift for a friend. Find her shop here.
