This Summer's Favorites
While reading, listen to The Louvre by Lorde.
I recently got a few messages asking when my May Favorites were going to be uploaded. WHOOPS! Yeah, I forgot...
In the midst of traveling towards the end of that month, it completely slipped my mind! Then, as I sat down to write out my July blog schedule...I realized I forgot to write about June’s favorites too! What on earth is going on?! Worst blogger ever ;) Friends, things happen. We’re human and forget things. (Usually it’s my house keys, but lately, it’s been favorites...oh well!) I figure since it is only the first week of July, a Summer Favorites (including things I’ve been loving from May-now), wouldn’t hurt! Consider this post as you do a belated birthday gift...a pleasant surprise that keeps the celebration going a little longer. It’s all about perspective right?!
Without further ado, here are...
This Summer's Favorites
Fresh Soy Face Cleanser | This light cleanser makes my skin feel hydrated, clean, and removes all makeup. A great, do it all product! Get it in travel size for any trips you have coming up.
Sukin Rose Hip Hydrating Day Cream | This intensive, antioxidant rich moisturizer makes my skin feeling radiant, and is especially great for dry, or summer-worn skin.
NYX Bright Idea Illuminating Sticks | In the summer, I like my makeup to be low-key, natural-looking, lightweight, and glowy. These sticks make all of that possible! I use Bermuda Bronze as an all-over bronzer, Chardonnay Shimmer as a highlight and eyeshadow, and Rose Petal Pop as a lip balm and blush on the apples of my cheeks. I blend them all with my finger, and finish it all off with a little translucent powder and mascara - so easy!
Sun Bum Sun Protection | For two summers now, I’ve been a diehard Sun Bum customer. I absolutely LOVE their sunscreen, tanning oil, and lip balm. With clean ingredients, Sun Bum products will not clog your pores, and they truly protect your skin.
Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipsticks | This formula is non-drying, matte while being creamy...and lasts a long time. Plus, you can't beat that they're under $10 a piece!
Bath and Body Works Candle in Merci Paris | This candle is warm and yet fresh - the perfect blend! With notes of vanilla, black currant, and jasmine...I think I’ve found a new favorite candle. Sorry, Reed, the collection is growing! (PS - It’s on sale, go and order yours!)
The One Memory of Flora Banks | For me, summer is all about reading fiction books under the sun, and by a body of water. I love immersing myself into a story! This one was fascinating...I read it in three hours. I highly recommend it!
My Own Worst Enemy by Janet Davis | You know those books you return to again and again for its wisdom? This book has quickly put itself in that category. I know that I will reread this one for years to come, as its insight into women and Scripture have been absolutely life-changing.
Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon | I love how this book is written...with witty, intelligent characters, and unforeseen plot twists. A perfect summer read that you will eat right up.
Caroline Williams Holy Yoga | As someone who has long understood yoga to take one form (one I do not participate in or agree with), Caroline Williams has guided me into an alternative Christian yoga practice that has been transformative. Her “Holy Yoga For When You’re a Hot Mess” series on YouTube has inserted so much depth and needed solace into my relationship w/ Jesus.
Shauna Niequist’s Podcast | Shauna is a Christian author I have loved for a long time (her book Bread & Wine is one of my favorites), and her new podcast has become something I listen to weekly! I especially love the questions she asks at the end of each podcast about reading and eating - two of my favorite things! ;)
Solo Piano and Solo Piano II by Chilly Gonzales | These two piano albums have been the soothing and inspiring soundtrack to my writing, working, cooking, and basically...everything else.
Moonlight by Grace Vanderwaal and Don’t Kill My Vibe by Sigrid | Two feel-good songs for those window-down drives.
The Great British Baking Show | People. I am obsessed with this show. I am not a TV person (truly), and watching this show w/ coffee in hand is my new favorite post-church-introvert ritual. (It's a thing.) If you’re looking for a pleasant and relaxing show, this is the one!
What have YOU been loving this summer? Which of these things will you be trying first? Share in the comments, I’d love to know!
